Malta Photographer Johnny

Hey, I’m Johnny, Malta-based creative with a background in photography, design, and visual storytelling. I often describe my work as a blend of documentary and lifestyle photography. Documentary means I’m there to capture things as they are, and with a storyteller’s eye. Lifestyle adds a bit of light guidance when needed (helping you find the best light or giving you a prompt that brings out natural connection, laughter, or intimacy).

"I've had a camera in my hand since I could walk"

Honestly? That’s not me.

I’ve always been drawn to the arts, but photography wasn’t something I really explored until my initial year of high school. I chose it because a friend of mine got a camera, so I wanted to try it out too. And guess what... I fell in love with it!

Fast forward more than a decade, and I’ve photographed everything from abandoned buildings, landscapes, travel adventures, commercial gigs, couples, families, event and weddings. You name it, I’ve probably got a photo of it somewhere.

But the real turning point for me came when I shot my first proposal session and got these beautiful people crying their emotions out, such a raw and honest moment, and the best this was that I was there to capture it all! It looked like a movie scene. That moment flipped a switch. I knew I wanted to turn this passion into a full-time career. Something that would not only feed my soul but also support my family and show my future child what it looks like to chase a dream.

On your special day, my approach is simple: I try to blend in as much as possible.
You’ve spent months exploring Malta for the perfect spot, so let’s capture your love story right there, in the place that feels most like you.

You’ve spent hours picking out the little details - the bouquet, the decor, the vibe - and I make sure all of it is part of the story I tell through your photos.

No awkward poses. Just honest moments. Real connection. And photos that feel lived in.

Am I the right photographer for you?

If you're after a relaxed, documentary approach, and someone who won’t turn your wedding into a full-day photoshoot but will document the real, emotional, in-between moments, then we might be a great fit. I focus on storytelling, not stiff posing.

But if you’re after a more traditional style (lots of formal posing, heavy direction, and a strict shot list) I might not be the photographer for you. And that’s totally okay. What matters most is that you find someone who matches your energy and vision.

My goal is to help you feel present on the day, while I capture everything as it naturally unfolds. If that sounds like your kind of vibe, I’d genuinely love to connect and hear more about your story.
